Installation Guide

Installing Manage Affiliate Links is easy and should take just a few minutes:

Standalone
This installation method gets you up and running in just a few minutes (Default).

  • Open and extract manageaffiliatelinks.zip somewhere on your computer.
  • Browse into the "Upload" folder.
  • Copy the entire "view" folder to your sites installation (locally or via FTP). Relative to the root of your site, the new folder location should be "public_html/view".
  • Browse to Manage Affiliate Links installation folder (http://www.example.com/view/install/).
  • Enter your database settings, email address and choose a username and password.
  • Your Done! Now login into Manage Affiliate Links and start saving money.
  • Note: Once installed, make sure you write down your username and password and keep it in a safe place.

Wordpress Plugin
This installation method is for using Manage Affiliate Links Wordpress plugin add-on.

  • Open and extract manageaffiliatelinks.zip somewhere on your computer.
  • Browse into the "plugins" folder.
  • Copy the entire "manage-affiliate-links" folder to your blog installation (locally or via FTP). Relative to the root of your blog, the new folder location should be "/wp-content/plugins/manage-affiliate-links".
  • Browse to your WordPress administration panel (http://www.example.com/wp-admin).
  • Click the "Plugins" link in the top right menu.
  • In the list of inactive plugins, check the box next to "Manage Affiliate Links", and click the "Activate" button.
  • Click the "MAL" link in the top right menu.
  • Click the "Manage Affiliate Links" link in the top submenu.
  • Add the keywords you want to be converted to links.
  • Save your settings and your blog now features the ability keywords to be converted to affiliate links!

Link Types

Note: The term "mal" will be used in reference to "Manage Affiliate Links".

  • Redirect Type
    Select what type of link you want to implement.

    Basic - Simple url redirection

    Advanced - Adds an option to redirect broken links that become dead to an alternative link of your choice.

  • Link ID
    Used to name your link.Example: /visit/LinkID.html

    Link ID should have no spaces. Characters available to use: A-Z, 0-9, -

  • URL
    Enter the URL to be linked.
  • Redirect URL
    Enter the URL that will be used as a backup when the original URL becomes dead or broken.
  • Text to Check
    Enter text that is found on the original URL landing page. This text will be checked to make sure that the original URL is active and working.
  • Stealth URL
    This is used to deep link to a specific page. This option loads your original URL first then redirects to the stealth url.
  • Forward URL
    Enter the URL to forward to. (only for Stealth Cloaking)
